In her 24+ years working as a professional in the field of mental health and personal growth, Shulamit has logged thousands of hours helping hundreds of women recover from the effects of stress--both extreme and everyday.
Shulamit is a liberatory (anti-capitalist, anti-oppression) intersectional feminist therapist. Shulamit believes that to be well, our wounds do not have to be healed (although healing is possible); we need skills to be able to be with our woundedness. Her life experiences have led her to see the systemic violence in the world and to support clients in addressing the systemic harms they experience.
Shulamit applies somatic parts work (Inner Relationship Focusing) to support her clients as they connect with their inner lives and teaches them the skills they need to be able to do this for themselves.
But Shulamit has not always been a therapist. Shulamit is a trauma survivor who has lived in a shelter for women and children fleeing violence, and has experienced poverty. Her own healing journey of trauma recovery is still ongoing, because healing is a lifelong process.
Shulamit holds a Masters in Counselling and Spirituality, is a Registered Social Worker and a certified Inner Relationship Focusing therapist. She is also a Certified Financial Social Worker, certified Trauma of Money facilitator, and a retired Yoga teacher.
In her free time, Shulamit loves to knit and listen to feminist science fiction or contemporary romance novels--especially books written by or about 2SLGBTQ++ folks and folks of the global majority. She is always game for good book recommendations and to nerd out on knitting and fancy yarns.
