ABOUT GEOFF

"Starting therapy can be daunting but it’s one of the best investments you can make in yourself."

I strive to create a non-judgemental, collaborative space guided by compassionate curiosity in which we can explore your fears, anxieties, relationships and general life challenges. Working together, we explore new ways of understanding your inner self, your world and your relationships and examine old patterns that may no longer serve you well and seek to create new ones that are more effective.

My professional background is diverse and varied, including working as a professional audio engineer and touring musician, a creative services client representative and project manager. I come to psychotherapy after several years in advocacy and caregiving roles dealing with end-of-life issues, acute care and disability. All of these experiences have informed my connection with people and helped to realize my calling helping others through their own life challenges.

I see both individuals and couples for therapy. My approach is psychodynamic which means by using empathy, compassion and deep listening we work together to examine the sometimes-hidden motivations and processes that may be contributing negatively to your current situation or issues. We’ll work on the issues that you wish to explore at a pace that works for you.

For couples’ therapy, I follow Emotionally Focused Therapy, developed by Sue Johnson to explore the emotions and attachment wounds that are behind the patterns of conflict or distress that you and your partner may find yourselves caught in.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and an Honours BA in Human Relations and Spirituality from Saint Paul University.
